Designation Order under the WMEBV

The Act on the Modernization of Electronic Administrative Communication (Wmebv) provides that citizens and businesses can handle their dealings with the government digitally.

The government is moving toward digitization, and an increasing number of laws and regulations are being enacted to ensure that digital processes are properly structured. For this reason, the Act on the Modernization of Electronic Administrative Communication (Wmebv) was enacted; it will take effect on January 1, 2026.

What does the Wmebv do?

You may submit official communications to the government electronically. Examples include:

• permit applications
• file an objection
• file a complaint

The government must clearly specify which digital channels you can use (such as an e-form or message box).

• You'll receive a confirmation when you send something digitally, so you'll have proof.
• The government should not ask unnecessary questions on digital forms.

Why was this law enacted?
