Parking Permit for People with Disabilities

With a disability parking permit, you can park in designated disability parking spaces in all EU countries, Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland, and Switzerland. You must follow the local parking regulations.

There are 3 types of cards:

Driver's Card

  • You have been unable to walk more than 100 meters on your own for at least six months, even with aids such as a cane or crutches.
  • You can drive a car yourself.

Passenger Card

  • You have been unable to walk more than 100 meters on your own for at least six months, even with aids such as a cane or crutches.
  • You cannot drive a car yourself. You always need the help of a driver.
  • You can also apply for a combination of a driver’s card and a passenger’s card, for example, if you are permanently in a wheelchair.

Institution Card

  • The management of a facility where people with disabilities live may apply for a disabled parking permit for transporting the residents.

How does it work?

  • The parking card is issued in a person's name.
  • The parking card is not linked to a license plate. You can use the card for any car.
  • The parking card is valid for up to 5 years.

How long does it take?

Depending on the medical examination, the processing time is 6 to 12 weeks.

Costs

2025:

  • • Card renewal or extension: €112.25
  • • Issuing a replacement card: €16.70. Important! You are also responsible for the costs if your application for the card is denied.
