Certificate of Life (international proof of being alive)

A certificate of life is an international document certifying that you are alive. You must apply for the certificate of life in person at the municipal office.

If you need proof of life in the Netherlands, Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire, Sint Maarten, Sint Eustatius, or Saba, do not request an attestatie de vita; instead, request proof of life.

What do I need?

  • A valid form of identification.
  • If you are requesting a certificate of employment for a pension fund, please also bring the letter from the pension fund requesting this.

How long does it take?

You'll receive the document right away.

Costs
