Attestation de vita (international certificate of life)

An attestatie de vita is an international certificate confirming that you are alive. You must apply for the attestatie de vita in person at the municipality.

If you need a certificate of life in the Netherlands, Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire, Sint Maarten, Sint Eustatius, or Saba, you do not apply for an attestatie de vita, but rather a certificate of life.

What do I need?

  • A valid ID.
  • If you are applying for the attestatie de vita for a pension fund, please also bring the letter from the pension fund requesting this document.

How long does it take?

You will receive the document immediately.

Costs

2026:

- Cost of applying for an attestatie de vita: €17.80
- The application is free of charge if the certificate of life is required for a pension and a pension letter can be provided as proof.
