Solar Panels
One of the measures for making a building more sustainable and saving energy is installing solar panels on the roof or elsewhere.
What should I do?
You can check whether you need a permit through the Omgevingsloket website at . If your property is designated as a historic monument, a landmark building, or is part of a “protected village landscape,” you will usually need permission from the municipality and must apply for an environmental permit before installation. Even if your property does not have protected status, a permit may still be required to install solar panels, depending on where you plan to install them. Be sure to check this in advance.
If a permit is NOT required, you can begin installing the solar panels.
How long does it take?
The permit process typically takes 8 weeks. Your application will be reviewed by the Aesthetics and Cultural Heritage Committee, after which the municipality will decide whether you may install solar panels. You will be notified of this decision in writing.
Costs
The following applies to the processing of your permit application for solar panels. See the Fee Ordinance. See Title 2, Chapter 3.
Article 2.3.1 applies to non-historic buildings (construction activities).
No fees are charged for monuments or protected village landscapes; see Article 2.3.6.
