Solar panels
One of the measures to make a building more sustainable and to save energy is installing solar panels on the roof or another location.
What to do?
You can check whether you need a “ licence ” (building permit) through the Omgevingsloket website at . If your property is designated as a historic monument, a landmark building, or is part of a “protected village landscape,” you will usually need authorisation from the municipality and must apply for an environmental permit before installation. Even if your property does not have protected status, you may still need a licence to install solar panels, depending on where you plan to install them. Be sure to check this in advance.
If a licence is NOT required, you can begin installing the solar panels.
How long does it take?
The standard processing time for the “ licence ” application is 8 weeks. Your application will be reviewed by the Aesthetics and Cultural Heritage Committee, after which the municipality will decide whether you are permitted to install solar panels. You will be notified of this decision in writing.
Costs
The following applies to the processing of your licence application for solar panels. See the municipal fees ordinance. See under title 2, chapter 3.
Article 2.3.1 applies to non-listed buildings (construction activities).
No fees are charged for listed buildings or protected townscapes, see article 2.3.6.
