Setting off fireworks

Effective August 1, 2026, it will be prohibited to set off fireworks. 

As a consumer, you are only allowed to possess Category F1 fireworks, such as firecrackers, string fizzers, and sparklers. If you still have other types of fireworks at home, you can turn them in this fall for free and without a fine during the collection days this fall.

Anyone who still has fireworks can turn them in safely, free of charge, and anonymously between September 1 and October 9, 2026. You risk a fine or penalty if you do not turn in your prohibited fireworks.
