Setting off fireworks

Buying

DE sales days for fireworks are usually DE last 3 working days of DE year.

You may have a maximum of 25 kg of fireworks per household.

Lighting

You may light fireworks between December 31 at 6:00 PM and January 1 at 2:00 AM.

Extra information

Legal fireworks can be recognized by DE designation 'intended for private use'. DE label must state DE following:

  • a description or image of DE type of firework with DE expected effects
  • DE (trade) name and address of DE manufacturer, importer, or trader established in NL
  • the manufacturer's article number and the year of production
  • a clear user manual in NL
  • the minimum age of the person to whom the fireworks may be sold
  • the phrase: for outdoor use only
  • the NEM: the total amount of pyrotechnic substance in the product

If fireworks do not meet all of the above criteria, they are illegal. You may not buy or set off illegal fireworks. Always buy fireworks from a retailer with a valid “ licence.” That way, you can be sure the fireworks are legal. These retailers display a sign in their window that reads: “Fireworks for sale. No smoking or open flames.”
