Report Lost or Found Items
- Have you lost something? Or have you found something? If so, you can report it to the municipality. You do not need to file a report with the police.
- Please note: You must file a report with the police if you believe the incident involves theft.
- You can only report lost and found items from the municipality of Voorschoten.
You can report or register lost or found items with us. For some lost items, registration is required for insurance purposes. Have you found an item and would you eventually like to become its owner? In that case, you must also register the item.
For all other lost or found items, a report is sufficient.
After you submit your report or register, we will check to see if your item has been found. Your lost item may be in our custody or in the custody of the person who found it. We will let you know as soon as possible.

Found a lost item?
Did the city find your lost item? If so, we'll contact you to let you know you can come pick it up.
Reporting a Stolen Item
Always go to the police to report a stolen item. You can do this in person at the police station, but you can often file a report online as well.
Keep the Found Object
Have you found an item and would you like to keep it? If so, you can indicate this when you register the find. If the item is not claimed within one year, you will become its new owner.
If the item is not claimed within one year, you must report this to the municipality within one month after that year has passed.
If you do not wish to become the owner of the item, the municipality will either destroy it (depending on its value) or donate it to a charity.
