Store Hours

Stores may be open on weekdays and Saturdays between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.

On Sundays and holidays, stores may be open from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

This (also) includes:

New Year's Day, Easter Monday, Ascension Day, Whit Monday

In addition, stores must be closed after 7:00 p.m. on:

Good Friday

May 4

December 24

If you still wish to be open on other days or at other times, you may apply for an exemption only in the case of occasional events or promotions.

What should I do?

You must apply for the exemption with the municipality. Indicate the days and times you wish to be open for business and explain why.
The municipality will notify you whether you have been granted the exemption.
The municipality may impose conditions on the exemption. You must comply with these conditions.

File an Appeal

If the municipality rejects your application or if you disagree with the conditions, you can file an appeal with the Trade and Industry Appeals Board.

The application must meet the requirements set forth in the Store Hours Ordinance (see local regulations for more information).

Business owners can apply to the municipality for Sunday shopping days. This must be done well in advance. The municipality publishes a notice in the newspaper for this purpose.
