Statement of Participation

The Participation Declaration is a document that newcomers to the Netherlands must sign to demonstrate their commitment to and understanding of Dutch society. It is an important part of the integration process and is intended to promote the integration of newcomers. The declaration emphasizes the values, rights, and obligations that apply in the Netherlands, such as freedom, equality, and participation.

Are you required to begin the integration program on or after October 1, 2017? And are you registered with the municipality? If so, you must learn about what is important in the Netherlands and sign the participation declaration. Children under the age of 18 are not required to participate or sign the declaration. Neither are seniors who are already receiving a pension (AOW).

How does it work?

Newcomers must complete a participation declaration program, which usually consists of a series of meetings and workshops in which they are introduced to Dutch society, norms and values, and their rights and obligations. They also learn about the Dutch labor market and how they can contribute to society.

What should I do?

To sign the Participation Declaration, newcomers must participate in the Participation Declaration program offered by Vluchtelingen Werk. This program typically includes informational sessions, workshops, and group discussions designed to increase knowledge and understanding of Dutch society. After completing the program, newcomers can sign the Participation Declaration.

Refugee Work Netherlands

Refugee Work Netherlands offers the Participation Declaration course in this municipality. The Participation Declaration is not an exam administered by DUO. Vluchtelingen Werk Nederland will send you a letter regarding this. If you have any questions about the Participation Declaration or if you have not received a letter, please call your integration counselor at the Leidschendam/Voorburg municipality. After completing this process, you will sign the Participation Declaration as a symbolic step toward full integration.
