Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG)

A Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is proof of good conduct. Employers or organizations may request a VOG. For example, if you are going to work in childcare or education, or if you are applying for a firearms permit.

Please read all the information on the Ministry of Justice’s website carefully first.

How does it work?

Teachers, taxi drivers, and people who work in childcare must have a VOG. You may also need a VOG because:

  • if a future employer asks for this
  • you are self-employed and a client requests this
  • you want to volunteer and the organization asks you to
  • you are applying for a visa
  • you want to join a shooting club
  • You're moving abroad

Justis is the government agency that processes all applications for a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG). If you have not committed any criminal offenses, you will be issued the VOG. If you have committed criminal offenses, further investigation is required. Justis will determine whether the criminal offenses are relevant to the application. If they are not relevant, you will still be issued the VOG.

You can check for yourself whether you are eligible for a VOG. Justis has developed the VOG Check for this purpose: . This check calculates whether you have a high, medium, or low chance of receiving a VOG. This check is anonymous. Your information will not be stored.
