You can have a deceased person buried or cremated. To do so, you’ll need a “ authorisation ” from the municipality. Your funeral director will usually take care of this for you.
You may bury or cremate the deceased no earlier than 36 hours after they have passed away, and no later than 6 working days after the death.
If a burial or cremation takes place more than 6 business days after death, a certificate of death ( authorisation ) is required from the mayor of the municipality and from a doctor. For example, you can request an extension ( authorisation ) for religious reasons, or if family members from a distant country wish to attend the funeral.
