Holding the municipality liable

If you have suffered damage and believe that the municipality is liable for it, you can report the damage online.

How does it work?

Conditions:

The damage(s) sustained is attributable to the municipality.
The municipality has failed to comply with a written or unwritten legal rule.
There is a direct link between the municipality’s wrongful act or omission and the damage you have suffered.
The municipality will not process incomplete damage reports.
In the event of damage caused by the condition of roads, paths, and sidewalks, the municipality is liable only if the road is dangerous or defective and the municipality is at fault. Minor irregularities or differences in elevation are always possible.

You can only submit a claim to the municipality online.

Fill out the online digital liability form. It is important that you provide sufficient evidence to support the liability claim.

Original receipt for the damaged item
For cars: expert report from a certified repair shop
Situation sketch, if applicable
Police report, if applicable
Witness statement, if applicable
If necessary, the municipality may request additional information.

The processing time is 8 weeks.
