Serving Alcohol at an Event

If you want to serve and sell alcohol during an event, you need a permit from the municipality.

How does it work?

The following conditions apply to the serving and sale of alcohol during an event:

  • You may not serve or sell alcohol to children under the age of 18.
  • You may not serve or sell hard liquor (>15% alcohol) at the event.
  • The person in charge of the alcohol:
    • is at least 21 years old
    • Has no history of misconduct (no criminal record)

What should I do?

You must apply for the exemption from the municipality where the event will be held. Please include the following information with your application:

  • date of the event
  • the times when you would like to serve alcohol

How long does it take?

You will be notified within 8 weeks whether you have been granted the exemption.

File an objection

If you disagree with the municipality's decision, you can file an objection within 6 weeks.
