Disabled parking space

A disabled parking space is a parking spot for people with physical disabilities. Other drivers are not allowed to park their cars there.

You can apply for your own disabled parking space near your home or workplace through the municipality. You will then be assigned a reserved parking spot where only the vehicle with your license plate is allowed to park.

How does it work?

You can apply for your own disabled parking space under the following conditions:

You are the driver

  • To obtain a disabled parking space near your home, you must be registered in the Personal Records Database (BRP) at that address.
  • To use a disabled parking space near your workplace, you must have a statement from your employer confirming that you work there.
  • The vehicle's license plate is registered in your name or in the name of your roommate.
  • If the license plate is registered to a leasing company or business, you have a statement from the license holder confirming that you are the primary driver.
  • You have a disabled parking permit.
  • You do not have your own parking space, such as a garage or driveway.

You are the passenger

  • You cannot be left alone at home while the driver picks up and parks the car.
  • You always have to rely on the driver's help for door-to-door transportation.
  • There is no way to get in or out of the car in front of your home or workplace.
  • You are registered in the Personal Records Database (BRP) at the same address as the driver of the car.
  • The car's license plate is registered in your name or in the driver's name.
  • If the license plate is registered to a leasing company or business, you have a statement from the license holder confirming that the driver is the primary user of the car.
  • You have a disabled parking permit.
  • You do not have your own parking space, such as a garage or driveway.
