Muskrat
Muskrats and coypus cause significant damage. To ensure the safety of the water system and therefore the safety of our dykes, muskrats and coypus are actively controlled.
You can recognize a muskrat by its stocky build, wide blunt head, and ears that are almost hidden in its fur. Its back is medium to dark brown, sometimes greyish or chestnut brown, while the belly is lighter in colour. It has a fairly long, laterally flattened tail, which is in any case shorter than its body (19 - 27.5 cm). The muskrat has small webbing between its toes. An adult muskrat is between 28 and 40 centimetres long.
