Parking a Caravan on a Public Road

What is it?

If you want to park your caravan, camper van, motorhome, trailer, or folding trailer on a public road, you are generally only allowed to do so for 3 days.

The maximum period for which you can obtain an exemption for parking on public roads is 2 weeks.

How does it work?

You will be granted the exemption under the following conditions:

  • You don't take up too much parking space.
  • It doesn't make the streets look any worse.
  • The municipality will assign you a parking space.
  • It does not cause any inconvenience or danger to road users or people living in the neighborhood.

What should I do?

You must apply for the exemption with the municipality. Please include the following information with your application:

  • your name and address
  • the period during which you wish to park
  • Why you might want to park your caravan, camper van, motorhome, trailer, or folding trailer on a public road
  • a description or a picture of your vehicle

How long does it take?

You will be notified within 8 weeks whether you have been granted the exemption.

File an objection

If you disagree with the municipality's decision, you can file an objection within 6 weeks.
