Parking a caravan on public roads
What is it?
If you want to park your caravan, campervan, motorhome, trailer or folding trailer on public roads, this is usually only permitted for 3 days.
The maximum period for which you can obtain an exemption for parking on public roads is 2 weeks.
How does it work?
You will receive the exemption under the following conditions: Requirements:
- You do not take up too much parking space.
- The streetscape is not adversely affected.
- The municipality will designate a parking space for you.
- It does not cause any inconvenience or danger to road users or the people living on neighbourhood .
What to do?
You can apply for the exemption from the municipality. Please provide the following information with your application:
- your name and address
- the period for which you wish to park
- why you want to park your caravan, campervan, motorhome, trailer or folding trailer on public roads
- a description or an image of your vehicle
How long does it take?
You will receive a notification within 8 weeks regarding whether your exemption has been granted.
File an objection
Do you disagree with the municipality's decision? If so, you can submit an objection within 6 weeks.
