Parking a Caravan on a Public Road
What is it?
If you want to park your caravan, camper van, motorhome, trailer, or folding trailer on a public road, you are generally only allowed to do so for 3 days.
The maximum period for which you can obtain an exemption for parking on public roads is 2 weeks.
How does it work?
You will be granted the exemption under the following conditions:
- You don't take up too much parking space.
- It doesn't make the streets look any worse.
- The municipality will assign you a parking space.
- It does not cause any inconvenience or danger to road users or people living in the neighborhood.
What should I do?
You must apply for the exemption with the municipality. Please include the following information with your application:
- your name and address
- the period during which you wish to park
- Why you might want to park your caravan, camper van, motorhome, trailer, or folding trailer on a public road
- a description or a picture of your vehicle
How long does it take?
You will be notified within 8 weeks whether you have been granted the exemption.
File an objection
If you disagree with the municipality's decision, you can file an objection within 6 weeks.
