Abuses in the Private Rental Market
The Good Landlordship Act provides a solution for several major problems in the private rental markt. First of all, the act focuses on preventing and combating discrimination and intimidation. Landlords are also required to draw up a written tenancy agreement. Furthermore, they must inform tenants of their rights and obligations, a maintenance plan must be in place, and the rent must not be excessively high. In addition, employment contracts and tenancy agreements must henceforth be separated. This makes migrant workers less dependent on their employer.
