Abuses in the Private Rental Market
The Good Landlord Act offers a solution to a few major problems in the private rental market. First and foremost, the law aims to prevent and combat discrimination and harassment. Landlords are also required to draw up a written lease agreement. They must inform tenants of their rights and obligations, a maintenance plan must be in place, and the rent must not be too high. In addition, employment contracts and lease agreements must now be kept separate. This makes migrant workers less dependent on their employers.
