Using airspace
It is prohibited to take off or land a “ aeroplane ” (je) anywhere other than an airport. If you still wish to do so, you must apply for an exemption from the provincial government.
Flying with a drone
For safety reasons, you are not allowed to fly a drone everywhere. For example, it is prohibited in areas surrounding airports. You are, however, allowed to fly in the uncontrolled portion of airspace. This portion is not monitored by air traffic control. You can find the rules for flying a drone on the Dutch Civil Aviation Authority ( Rijksoverheid ) website at .
Balloons
You usually need authorisation if you want to release a balloon or balloons within the neighbourhood of an airport. This also applies to glider airfields. The authorisation may be denied if it could disrupt air traffic—for example, if the wind direction affects the balloons’ flight path.
