Using Airspace
It is prohibited to take off or land with an aircraft (including model aircraft) anywhere other than an airport. If you still wish to do so, you must apply for an exemption from the provincial government.
Flying a Drone
For safety reasons, you are not allowed to fly a drone just anywhere. For example, it is prohibited in areas surrounding airports. You are, however, allowed to fly in the uncontrolled portion of airspace. This portion is not monitored by air traffic control. You can find the rules for flying a drone on the Dutch government’s website at .
Balloons
You usually need permission if you want to release a balloon or balloons near an airport. This also applies to glider airfields. Permission may be denied if air traffic could be disrupted—for example, if the wind direction affects the balloons’ drift.
