Applying for municipal honours
Parel van Voorschoten
The “ Parel ” (Voorschoten Award) is a crystal object created by Sommer Dutch Glass Art in Leerdam. The “ Parel ” is presented to individuals who have shown exceptional dedication to Voorschoten for more than 15 years, or who have achieved something unique, such as winning a regional or (inter)national championship.
The award is granted only if the mayor and aldermen unanimously approve it. An anniversary, retirement, or other special occasion may be a reason to apply for the “ Parel .” The application may be submitted by an individual, an organization, or the municipality itself.
Important Requirements
- Anyone can receive the " Parel " award, as long as they have demonstrated a commitment to Voorschoten.
- The awarding of a " Parel " is not a " favour " nor a right. It is a " acknowledgement " of the achievements of a person, institution, or company.
- Allocations are always made impartially.
- The municipality strives for a fair distribution among all groups in society.
- The candidate has not yet received a Royal honour for the same voluntary merits.

You can arrange your application directly online. Please do this at least four months before the planned presentation date. You will subsequently receive notification regarding the decision.
