Social Assistance, Reciprocity

If you receive social assistance benefits, the municipality may ask you to provide something in return. This means you must do something in exchange for receiving your benefits. You do this by performing unpaid work that benefits society. You will work with the municipality to determine which form of contribution is best suited to you.

What should I do?

  • Discuss with the municipality what kinds of activities you could do.
  • If you do not fulfill your obligations, the municipality may reduce your welfare benefits.

Additional Information

When requiring you to provide a reciprocal contribution, the municipality must take your personal circumstances into account to the best of its ability. These may include your age, education, work experience, and other relevant circumstances.
