Social assistance, reciprocal obligation

If you receive a Social assistance benefit , the municipality may ask you to provide something in return. This means you must do something in exchange for receiving your benefits. You do this by performing unpaid work that benefits society. You will work with the municipality to determine which form of contribution best suits your situation.

What to do?

  • Discuss with DE municipality what kind of activities you could perform.
  • If you do not fulfill your obligations, the municipality may reduce your Social assistance benefit .

Extra information

When imposing mandatory community service, DE municipality must take your personal circumstances into account to DE best of its ability. EN examples include age, education, work experience, and other relevant circumstances.
