Support in finding work

If you are unemployed and receiving further training through career guidance, you can request compensation for a training course or program that increases your chances of employment. You can request compensation for:

  • course fees and tuition
  • costs for study materials (for example books)
  • examination costs
  • travel expenses
  • childcare costs

The municipality works with the UWV to help people find work. If you are unemployed and not eligible for unemployment benefits, you can register with the UWV at enrol . The UWV will work with you to determine what kind of work you are suited for. 

What to do?

First contact your reintegration counselor, client manager, or the municipality.

The municipality can pay the costs directly to the school. However, sometimes you pay the expenses yourself first and receive a reimbursement afterward. Therefore, keep all receipts, invoices, and expense claims.  

Register with UWV

Next, register with the UWV. Sometimes you’ll need to visit a Make an appointment , and sometimes you can register onlineat enrol. Fill out the online form using your DigiD at .

Create a work plan

The UWV can draw up a work plan with you. This outlines what you will do to increase your chances of finding a paid job, such as application training, courses, or work experience. The plan also specifies the timeframe within which you will do this.

You, your UWV work coach, and possibly the municipality will sign this work plan.

Exemption from job application obligation

If you receive benefits, you are required to apply for jobs. Sometimes you are exempt from this obligation, for example if you are gaining work experience or doing volunteer work. Always discuss this with your employment coach first.

If you fail to comply with the agreements, the municipality may require you to apply for jobs again. The municipality may also reduce or terminate your benefits.
