Volunteer insurance
When you do volunteer work, you are not always adequately insured. Therefore, the municipality has taken out volunteer insurance. As a volunteer, you are automatically covered by this insurance. This means you are insured if you have an accident or cause damage.
The volunteer insurance provides secondary coverage. This means that the volunteer's own liability insurance, or that of the organization for which he or she performs the activities, always takes precedence over the municipality's volunteer insurance. It is also referred to as a 'safety net' insurance. It is recommended not to cancel your own insurance.
This does not apply to volunteers who provide services through an organization. For example, when a volunteer and an organization connect via a digital platform and activities are performed.
DE municipality has taken out a basic and plus package EN.
