Voter's pass: voting in another municipality
What is a voter pass?
Would you like to vote in a municipality other than the one where you are registered enrolled? If so, you will need a voter pass. With a voter pass, you can vote at any polling place in the Netherlands for the election for which the pass was requested. Please note: a voter pass is not the same as a voting pass. A voting pass is only valid in your own municipality.
How do you apply for a voter pass?
You can apply for a voter ID card at the municipality where you are registered enrolled. There are two ways to do this:
Applying in writing
- Request the form from your municipality.
- Fill in the form and sign it.
- Send it or drop it off at the municipality.
- The municipality must have received your application no later than five days before the election.
Apply in person at the town hall
- Bring your proof of identity.
- You can apply for your voter ID card in person at opening hours no later than one day before the election.
- Your polling card will be collected upon this application.

What you need to pay attention to
Applying for a voter pass is final. You cannot undo this if you change your mind. Have you lost your voter pass? Then you cannot apply for a new one. Unfortunately, you will not be able to vote. Please also note that you can only vote with the original voter pass. A copy is not valid.
