Hold the Municipality Liable

How does it work?

Terms and Conditions:

  • The damage sustained is attributable to the municipality.
  • The municipality failed to comply with a written or unwritten legal rule.
  • There is a direct link between the municipality’s culpable acts or omissions and the damages you have suffered.
  • The municipality will not process incomplete damage reports.

Condition of roads. In the event of damage caused by the condition of roads, paths, or sidewalks, the municipality is liable only if the road is dangerous or defective and the municipality is at fault. Minor irregularities or differences in elevation may always occur.

What should I do?

You can file a claim against the municipality exclusively online.

Please fill out the online digital liability form. It is important that you provide sufficient evidence to support your claim of liability.

  • Overview photo and close-up photo of the damage
  • A well-detailed claim statement or estimate
  • Original receipt for the damaged item
  • For cars: inspection report from an authorized repair shop
  • Description of the situation, if applicable
  • Police report, if applicable
  • Witness statement, if applicable

If necessary, the municipality may request additional information.

How long does it take?

The service standard is 8 weeks. The time required to process each case varies.
