Social assistance, reassessment
If you receive Social assistance benefit , the municipality will conduct regular reviews. These reviews allow the municipality to determine whether you are still eligible for your benefits. The municipality also assesses whether you are able to find work.
How does it work?
During a re-investigation, the municipality examines, among other things:
- whether you are still receiving the correct benefit
- whether any income you receive (such as alimony) has been correctly deducted from your benefit
- whether your personal assets have been correctly assessed
- whether your personal situation has changed, meaning your benefit amount should be increased or decreased
- whether work can be found for you
- how you can find paid work again as quickly as possible, so that you no longer need a benefit
You are required to cooperate with a reassessment. The municipality determines how often it conducts a reassessment.
What to do?
- You will receive a reassessment form.
- You complete the form and provide the requested information.
- You return the form along with supporting documents to the municipality.
Investigation into finding work
- You will receive a reassessment form and an invitation for an interview.
- You complete the form.
- During the interview, you will discuss, among other things, what you are doing to find work and how the municipality might be able to assist you with this.
Decision of the municipality
- You will receive a letter regarding the outcome of the reassessment.
- If there are any changes, the letter will outline your new rights and obligations.
- The letter may include an action plan. This action plan outlines the agreements on how you can find paid work as quickly as possible. You must adhere to these agreements. The municipality will check this during the next reassessment.
If you disagree with the outcome of the reassessment, you can submit an objection to the municipality.
What do I need?
During a reassessment, the municipality may ask for:
- your job applications from the period since the previous reassessment
- any recent educational results
- proof of rent payments
- any recent divorce papers
- proof of the rent amount
- proof of your income and that of any partner and other family members
- proof of debts of you and any partner and other family members
- bank statements from the last 3 months
