The municipality checks to ensure that everyone who is building or renovating is following the rules. For example, it checks whether construction is being carried out in accordance with building codes and whether a renovation permit has been obtained. The municipality also monitors noise, vibrations, and waste.
If you believe that a construction or renovation project is not being carried out in accordance with the rules, you can report it to the municipality.
How does it work?
Municipal inspectors conduct the inspection. They are authorized to:
- entering buildings without permission
- request information
- View business information and documents and make copies of them
- searching items, such as opening packages and taking items
Inspectors may never enter homes without the residents' permission.
If the municipality determines that a construction or renovation project is not being carried out in accordance with the rules, it may halt the project. The municipality may also close off access to the building.

Please notify the municipality if you believe that a construction or renovation project is not being carried out in accordance with the rules.

With the entry into force of the Environment Act, the phased implementation of the Wkb begins.
The Construction Quality Assurance Act (Wkb), also known as the Quality Assurance Act, transfers the supervision and assessment of a structure’s compliance with technical construction requirements from the municipality to an independent party, known as the quality assurance body. This does not apply immediately to all structures, but will be implemented in phases.
