Discharging wastewater

Companies discharging wastewater

If your business intends to discharge wastewater into the municipal sewer system, the municipality requires that you notify them. Certain discharges only need to be reported. For other discharges, you must apply to the municipality for a permit for the discharge of wastewater ( licence ).

Discharging domestic wastewater

It is prohibited to discharge (dispose of) domestic wastewater outside the sewer system, for example into a stream, river, lake or into the ground. Is your home or other building (not yet) connected to the sewer system? Then apply for an exemption from the discharge ban. You can do this at the water authority or water board in your region.

If you have a water licence for the discharge, you do not need to apply for an exemption.

You can see what you need to do via het Omgevingsloket.
