Asbestos is dangerous

Be careful with asbestos. The fibre of asbestos are dangerous and can cause cancer. Therefore, there are strict rules for removing asbestos. You may encounter asbestos in houses built before 1994. For example, in corrugated sheets, ceilings, window sills, and vinyl flooring.

Having asbestos removed

  • Asbestos may only be removed by a certified removal company.
  • Only under certain Requirements conditions may you remove up to 35 square metre of asbestos-containing material yourself in or around your own home.
  • You must report this to the municipality by submitting a demolition notification to the Environment and Planning Portal (Omgevingsloket).
