Royal Medal of Honor

Only an association or institution that has existed for at least 50 years is eligible to receive a Royal Medal of Honor. The Royal Medal of Honor is awarded during the celebration of the 50th anniversary. Or on a subsequent 25-year anniversary (for example, on the 75th or 100th anniversary). In very exceptional cases, an exception may be made. A federation or umbrella organization is not eligible to receive the Royal Medal of Honor.

• You can apply for the Royal Medal of Honor at the municipality. Do so at the municipality where your association or institution is located.
• Clearly explain why your association or institution deserves the Royal Medal of Honor. Please also provide information about the association’s history, its purpose, and the types of activities it conducts.
• Submit your application at least 6 months before the desired award date. You will be notified automatically if you are awarded the Royal Medal of Honor.

The Royal Medal of Honor is distinct from the designation “Royal.” An association or institution that has been awarded the Royal Medal of Honor may not call itself “Royal.”
