Specialized Transportation

If the cargo you wish to transport is so large that it exceeds the legal size and weight limits, this is referred to as special transport. You need a special permit for special transport. You are not allowed to transport it without one. 

How does it work?

You can apply for the exemption if:

  • the shipment does not meet the legal shipping requirements
  • there are no alternatives (such as transporting the item in parts)
  • You load and unload within the municipality

What should I do?

Apply for the exemption with the RDW at . Include the following information with your application:

  • the dimensions of the shipment
  • the desired route
  • the time of transport

How long does it take?

You will be notified within 10 business days whether you have been granted the exemption.
