Special transport

If the cargo you wish to transport is so large that its transport falls outside statutory dimensions and weights, we call this special transport. For special transport, you need an exemption. You are not allowed to transport this without authorization. 

How does it work?

You can apply for the exemption if:

  • the transport falls outside statutory transport requirements
  • no alternatives are possible (for example, transport in parts)
  • you load and unload within the municipality

What to do?

Apply for the exemption at the RDW. Provide the following information with your application:

  • the dimensions of the transport
  • the preferred route
  • the time of transport

How long does it take?

You will receive notice within 10 working days whether you will receive the exemption.
