Relocation

The following people may report a move:

• Anyone over the age of 16 can report a change of address on their own behalf.
• Cohabiting spouses or registered partners can report a change of address for each other (only if they move together from one address to another).
• The parents, guardians, or caregivers of minors.
• Parent(s) of adult children living at home (only if they move together from one address to another).
• Adult children living with their parent(s) (only if they move together from one address to another)
• The guardian of a person under guardianship.
• The director of the facility for people residing in a facility.

Someone who has authorized you to report the move on your behalf.

Authorizing Someone Else

You may authorize someone else to report the move on your behalf. To do so, you will need a letter of consent that includes the following:

“I hereby authorize (your initials, last name, date of birth, place of birth, and address) the person listed below (initials, last name, date of birth, place of birth, and address of the person you are authorizing) to report my move from (old address) to (new address).”

• This letter should include your signature;
• The person being authorized must have a valid form of identification;
• The person being authorized must bring (a copy of) a valid form of identification.

Organizations that need the details of your move

The municipality will pass on your relocation information to the institutions ( https://www.rijksoverheid.nl/onderwerpen/privacy-en-persoonsgegevens/vraag-en-antwoord/wie-krijgen-mijn-persoonsgegevens-uit-brp) that require this information to fulfill their legal obligations.

Important

Notify the municipality of your move within 5 days after you have moved. You may notify your new municipality before you move. You can do this up to 4 weeks before your move.

• If you notify the municipality of your move after these 5 days, the date on which you notify the municipality of the change is the official date of the change of address.
• If you have submitted a change of address for a future date, the municipality will update your address information on the date you specify. This is the date of the change of address.
• Be sure to provide all the necessary documents; otherwise, the municipality will not be able to register your new address.

Notify the municipality electronically

• Your eIDAS credentials.
• Copy of the rental or purchase agreement.

Notify the municipality in person

• Your valid identification.
• Rental or purchase agreement.

You're moving in with someone

• A copy of your valid identification.
• Written permission from the primary tenant of the home.
• A copy of the primary tenant's valid identification.

Mailing Address

A mailing address is a temporary address where you can receive mail if you do not have a home address. If you want to register a mailing address, you will need the following:

• A copy of your valid identification.
• A letter explaining why you want a mailing address.
• A letter from the primary tenant of the mailing address stating that he or she will ensure that you receive the mail delivered to that address.
• A copy of the primary tenant's valid identification.

The municipality will update your address within 5 business days.

The municipality of Voorschoten uses DigiD. For more information about DigiD

DigiD stands for Digital Identity and is used to conduct business with a (semi)governmental organization online. Anyone who has a citizen service number (BSN number) and is registered in the Municipal Personal Records Database (BRP) can apply for a DigiD.

If this does not apply to you, we kindly ask that you make an appointment or contact the municipality.

eIDAS (Electronic Identification, Authentication, and Trust Services) is an initiative launched by the European Union (EU) to enable the cross-border use of national digital identity systems. Currently, users can only log in using the national digital identity systems of the following EU member states: Belgium, Germany, Estonia, Italy, Croatia, Luxembourg, and Spain.

If you are not a citizen of one of these countries, we kindly ask you to make an appointment or contact the municipality.

• It is not possible to register a change of address without a lease or purchase agreement or without the consent of the primary tenant of the residence.
• In some cases, there is no lease or purchase agreement, but rather an arrangement or another type of contract.
• If you notify the municipality of your move online, these documents must be available in digital form. You may also upload a photo of the documents, as long as the photos are clear. The maximum file size is 5 MB per file.
• On the first page of the document(s), the address and the type or name of the document (such as a contract) should be clearly visible.
