Disposing of and Recycling Glass
Glass is important and can be reused over and over again without losing its quality. When we recycle glass separately, we save energy and materials. So be sure to recycle glass properly.
This belongs in the glass recycling bin
- Empty glass bottles and jars
Put empty glass bottles and jars in the glass recycling bin. Glass containers such as sauce bottles and jam or pasta jars can also be placed there. - With label, lid, or cork
You do not need to remove the label, cap, lid, or cork. The glass processor will remove them. - Color-Sorted
The glass recycling bin has separate openings for white, brown, and green glass. Please place the glass in the correct opening. This helps ensure that the glass is recycled properly.
This does not belong in the glass recycling bin
Not all types of glass can be placed in the glass recycling bin. Dispose of the following types of glass with general waste or take them to the recycling center:
- Broken oven dishes or heat-resistant glass
- Broken drinking glasses, such as tea glasses or wine glasses
- Broken crystal, earthenware, or porcelain
- Broken glass from doors, window frames, and windows
Drop off glass from doors, window frames, and windows at a glass dealer. Or at the recycling center.
Be mindful of your surroundings
It makes noise when you put glass in the glass recycling bin. Please be considerate of residents living near the glass recycling bin. Therefore, please put glass in the glass recycling bin between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.
