Exhumation and reburial or cremation

You wish to have a deceased person reburied elsewhere or cremated after all. To do so, you need to have the deceased exhumed. This is only possible if you:

  • have permission from the person(s) entitled to the grave
  • have a permit from the municipality

What should I do?

  • You must apply for the permit with the municipality. You can do this either within 2 months after the funeral or at least 10 years later.
  • You can also have a funeral director handle this for you.
