DigiD stands for Digital Identity and is a personal combination of a username and a password. You use DigiD to verify your identity online. This way, organizations know they are actually dealing with you. 

How does it work?

With your personal DigiD, you can handle the following matters online, among others:

  • file a tax return;
  • apply for child benefits;
  • register with the Donor Registry;
  • request services from your municipality, such as an extract from the Basic Register of Persons (BRP);
  • Take care of matters related to your health insurance.

What should I do?

You can apply for your DigiD through the DigiD.nl website . To do so, you must be registered in the Basic Registration of Persons (BRP).
