Benefit for older and partially incapacitated employees (IOAW)

You can receive IOAW benefits if you meet certain Requirements:

• You were born before 1 January 1965, became unemployed on or after your 50th birthday, and received a WW benefit for longer than 3 months.
• You are no longer eligible to receive a WW benefit.
• You were born before January 1, 1965, and began receiving WGA benefits (return to work for partially disabled individuals) on or after your 50th birthday, but these benefits were discontinued because a reassessment determined that you are less than 35% incapacitated .
• You have insufficient income to live on.

Did you or will you become unemployed between 30 September 2006 and 1 January 2020? Were you or are you 60 years of age or older at that time? If so, you cannot apply for an IOAW benefit. You are, however, entitled to an IOW benefit. You can apply for this via the UWV website.

Labour obligation

If you receive an IOAW benefit, the labour obligation applies to you and your partner, if any. The labour obligation entails the following:

• You actively look for work and accept a job offer.
• You make use of a municipal facility that can help you find employment or keep you active in another way.
• You cooperate with an assessment of your employment opportunities.

You can apply for the benefit through werk.nl. Log in with your DigiD. If you don’t have a DigiD, call the Werkplein office in your area neighbourhood .

Your application will be sent to the municipality. You will then automatically be notified whether you will receive the benefit.
