Mattresses
Old mattresses can be recycled. That is why there are specific rules for disposing of old mattresses.
How does it work?

If you buy a new mattress in the store, your old one will be picked up upon delivery.
You can also drop off your mattress yourself. There are two locations where you can do this:
- At therecycling center.
- At the city hall at 21 Koninklijke Marinelaan. You can do this on Wednesdays between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
Matras Recycling Europe picks up the mattresses from the municipality. At the factory, the mattresses are taken apart. The materials are then used to make new products, such as insulation, exercise mats, and subfloors.
Pickup
You can also have your old mattress picked up by the municipality on the first Friday of the month.
This costs 15 euros. There are a few rules that apply.
Rules for Selling Mattresses
- You can make an appointment online at with the municipality to have one or more mattresses picked up.
- You must place the mattress in a bag before it is picked up. Pick up this bag at the town hall reception desk.
- Please place the mattress outside around 7:30 a.m. on the agreed-upon day.
- Place the mattress in front of your house (but not on your own property) on a public road, such as a parking lot.
- The mattress will be picked up between 7:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. You do not need to stay home for this.

You can also make an appointment at the town hall reception desk to have bulky waste or mattresses picked up. This is convenient if you don’t want to or can’t pay online, or if you’re unable to submit a request digitally.
