Apply for a Traffic Exemption
Sometimes you need an exemption if you want to do something on or near the public road. For example, if you:
- want to place a moving truck or crane on the road (partially closing the road)
- place structures
- organize cycling tours or events
You can apply for an exemption for this from the road authority.
Where do I apply for an exemption?
- for national highways: Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment
- for provincial roads: the Provincial Executive
- for roads under the management of the water authority: the water authority
- for other public roads: DE gemeente
- for vehicle requirements: the RDW
How does it work?
For roads managed by the municipality, you must apply for the exemption with the municipality. Please provide the following information with your application:
- location, date, and time of your activity
- reason and necessity for the exemption
Please submit the traffic exemption request 4 weeks in advance.
