Royal honor, decoration

People who volunteer their time to serve the community may receive a royal honor.

How does it work?

Good to Know

  • Most royal honors are awarded during the “Lintjesregen.” The Lintjesregen takes place every year on the last working day before King’s Day. Would you like to nominate someone for next year’s Lintjesregen? The municipality of Voorschoten would like to receive your application by June 1.
  • If the award ceremony is to be held on an interim basis—that is, during a special occasion such as an anniversary or a farewell—you must submit your application no later than 6 months before the desired date of the ceremony.
  • For more information about the application procedure for a royal decoration, please contact the Cabinet Affairs Department, Ms. Gaby de Lijster, by phone at 14071 or by email at kabinet@voorschoten.nl. For general information, you can also visit the website of the Chancellery of the Dutch Orders at www.lintjes.nl.

What should I do?

  • Contact the municipality where the nominee lives. They can tell you whether your nomination is distinguished enough to qualify for a royal honor.
  • Next, visit Lintjes.nl to find out what to do next.
