Bulky waste includes materials or items that are too large (or heavy) for regular household waste, such as furniture or carpet. 

Branches or tree trimmings

You may want to have branches picked up as a result of pruning bushes and trees. You can do this by making a separate appointment on the following website: Waste collection, branches | Voorschoten

Electrical devices

For example: refrigerators, freezers, televisions, microwaves, hair dryers, kitchen appliances, and audio and video equipment. These electrical appliances are not collected by the municipality and should be taken to a waste collection station: Avalex, or a pickup by Kringloop Holland can be arranged by calling 070-3895724.

Construction and Demolition Waste

Examples include laminate flooring, laminate kitchen or bathroom fixtures, scrap metal, paving stones, roofing materials, window frames, and drywall. Construction and demolition waste can be taken to the waste collection station: Avalex. For sand and soil, it’s best to find a processor online that can dispose of it for you.

Car tires

Car tires are not considered bulky waste and are not collected by the municipality. You can drop off your car tires at the waste collection station: Avalex.

Paper and cardboard waste

Paper and cardboard can be disposed of in the paper recycling bins located in the shopping areas of Voorschoten.

Glass

Glass can be disposed of in the glass recycling bins located in the shopping areas of Voorschoten.

How does it work?

Taking bulky waste to a waste collection site

Whenever you bring your waste to the waste collection station, keep the following in mind: Sort your bulky waste. Bring your Avalex card with you; it will grant you access to the waste collection station. Payment is accepted only by debit card.

If you do not have an Avalex card or if your card is lost, you can apply for a new card on the Avalex website at or call (0900)-0507 (local rate). Please note that your old Avalex card will be blocked, and you will receive a new one by mail.

Municipal Collection of Bulky Waste

The municipality of Voorschoten collects bulky waste and charges 25,-; service is available by appointment only.

Procedure for Collecting Bulky Waste

  1. Separate the different types of waste from one another and make it as easy as possible to collect. 
  2. Tie the trash into small, easy-to-handle bundles.
  3. Place the bulk waste alongside the public road where the garbage truck can easily pick it up. 
  4. Do not place it on any private property.

Additional information

You may only place your bulky waste outside after 10 p.m. on the day before your appointment or before 7:30 a.m. on the day of the appointment. This is to ensure that the bulky waste remains in place and does not cause any inconvenience to others. Sometimes you must place the bulky waste at a specific location. For example, near the side of the road. You may not place bulky waste on your private property. It must be placed alongside a public road. Please specify exactly where you will place the bulky waste when making an appointment.
