Charging from home via a cable duct

Don’t have a parking spot on your own property—such as a driveway, garage, or carport—but want to charge your car using your own electricity? In some cases, this is possible. If there are public parking spaces along the curb near your home, you can submit a request for a cable trench. You can run your own charging cable through this trench.

Installation and Costs of a Cable Trough

  • The municipality will install the cable trench for you. You only pay the cost of the materials, which is €300, including VAT. The municipality will cover the installation costs;
  • The cable trench tiles are and will remain the property of the municipality of Voorschoten;
  • The parking space remains public and can therefore also be used by other drivers.

When are you eligible?

  • You are a resident of the municipality of Voorschoten;
  • You are registered at the address for which the cable trench is being requested;
  • You own or lease an electric car;
  • You do not have a parking space on the premises;
  • The public parking lot is right next to the sidewalk in front of your house;
  • The cable trench does not cross any road, green space, or bike path. The cable trench crosses only the sidewalk;
  • The charging station, including the connector, is located on your own property;
  • A cable tray may be no more than 330 cm long;
  • Up to 11 tiles measuring 30x30 cm.
