Placing objects on or near the road
- You are not permitted to use the road, pavement or a part thereof without authorisation. For example, for placing scaffolding, a container, building materials or an advertising sign.
- If you still wish to do so, you can apply for an exemption from the municipality.
What to do?
Through the Environment and Planning Portal you can check whether you need an environmental licence.
You then apply for the exemption from the municipality. Please provide the following information in your application:
- why you want to place the object on or by the road
- the location where the object will be placed
- the size of the object
- when and for how long you want to place the object
If you want to place an object for the storage of movable property, you may need an environmental licence. For example, if you place a container for the temporary storage of debris or building materials during a renovation.

You pay administrative fees for the application, and additionally precario tax for the use
