Child Care Credit

Childcare allowance is a (partial) reimbursement for the costs of childcare. For example, if your children go to a daycare center, out-of-school care, or a registered childminder.

You can apply for the allowance if:

  • you and your partner work during the day
  • you are following a study or training course
  • you receive a benefit

The amount of allowance you receive depends on your income level, the number of children, and the type of childcare. You can make a test calculation on the Tax and Customs Administration website to see how much childcare allowance you are eligible to receive.

How does it work?

You can receive the allowance for the following types of childcare:

  • Daycare in a nursery or childcare center.
  • Out-of-school care for children aged 4 to 12.
  • Childminder care. You can only receive an allowance for a childminder who is registered with a recognized childminder agency.
  • Parent participation nurseries where a group of parents take turns caring for their own children.
  • Private babysitter. The babysitter is registered as a childminder and you pay the babysitter officially. You can arrange this through a childminder agency.
  • Toddler care for children aged 2.5 to 4.
