Lost and Found Items

  • Report to the Municipality: If you have lost or found an item, you can report it to our municipality. There is no need to go to the police for this.

Suspected Theft

  • Report to the Police: If you believe an item has been stolen, you must report it to the police.

What should I do?

Report Lost and Found Items

You should report lost and found items to the municipality, unless you suspect theft. At the municipality, you can request a receipt confirming that you reported the item. The municipality will contact you as soon as the item is found.

Saving a Found Object

After reporting a found item, you can choose to keep it yourself. You can also turn it in to the municipality, where it will be stored.

Claiming Ownership of a Found Object

  • Indicate Interest: When reporting a found item, you can state that you wish to become the owner if the original owner is not found.
  • One-Year Period: If the item is not claimed within one year, you can become the owner.

Conditions for Municipal Storage

  • Value Over €450: If the municipality is holding the item, you can only claim ownership if its value exceeds €450.
  • Report Within One Month: You must notify the municipality of your intention to claim the item within one month after the one-year retention period.
