Proof of Dutch Citizenship

A certificate of Dutch citizenship is a written statement issued by the municipality. It states that you have Dutch citizenship. You may need a certificate of Dutch citizenship, for example, if you:

moves abroad
is getting married
is applying for a position in public administration

What should I do?

You can request the certificate from the municipality where you are registered.
If you need the certificate for an institution abroad, you can request a multilingual certificate.

How long does it take?

You will receive your certificate of Dutch citizenship immediately. If you request the certificate in writing, the municipality will mail it to your home address. This will take a few days.
