Clothing Drive

If you would like to collect clothing door-to-door for a charity, please coordinate this with the municipality.

How does it work?

The Central Bureau for Fundraising (CBF) keeps track of which organizations collect clothing for charitable causes. Trustworthy organizations are awarded the CBF seal of approval. This lets donors know they can give with confidence. The municipality checks with the CBF to see if your organization has this seal of approval.

Certain rules apply to clothing drives. For example, the municipality issues a maximum of 9 permits per year, distributed evenly across the months of the year. Applications must be submitted by December 31 of the year for which the permit is intended.

What should I do?

Notify the municipality that you would like to collect clothing. Please provide the following information:

  • the applicant's name and contact information
  • where and when the collection takes place
  • What is the purpose of the collection?
  • who the clothing is intended for

How long does it take?

Applicants will receive notification from the municipality by December 31 of the year preceding the year for which the application applies.
