Collecting clothing

If you wish to collect clothing door-to-door for a charitable cause, you must coordinate this with the municipality.

How does it work?

The Central Bureau for Fundraising (CBF) tracks which organizations collect clothing for charitable causes. Reliable organizations receive the CBF certification mark. This ensures that donors can give with peace of mind. The municipality verifies with the CBF whether your organization holds this certification mark.

Certain rules apply to clothing collection. For instance, the municipality grants a maximum of 9 licences per year, distributed across the months of the year. Applications will be answered before December 31 of the year for which it is intended.

What to do?

Notify the municipality that you wish to collect clothing. Please provide the following information:

  • name and contact details of the applicant
  • where and when the collection will take place
  • what the purpose of the collection is
  • who the clothing is intended for

How long does it take?

Applicants will receive a response from the municipality before December 31 of the year preceding the year for which the licence is to apply.
