Prince Frederik Park Trail
In the 19th century, a ring road connected the estates of Prince Frederik of the Netherlands, brother of King William II, to one another. This created a route that passed by scenic locations and attractive views of the prince's nine estates. The winding road runs through the present-day municipalities of Wassenaar and Voorschoten. Prince Frederik's ring road—or rather, the system of ring roads—is unique in scale within the Netherlands. Much of it was specially commissioned by Prince Frederik or embellished by his architects.
