Prince Frederik Park Trail
In the 19th century, a bypass connected the estates of Prince Frederik of the Netherlands, brother of King William II. This created a route that passed through beautiful locations and offered attractive views of the prince’s nine estates. The winding road runs through the present-day municipalities of Wassenaar and Voorschoten. Prince Frederik’s ring road—or rather, his network of ring roads—is unique in the Netherlands in terms of its scale. Much of it was specially commissioned by Prince Frederik or embellished by his architects.
