New Sports Center in Voorschoten

The Municipality of Voorschoten is working on plans for a new sports center with a sports hall and a swimming pool—a place where all residents can exercise, swim, and socialize. In April 2025, the “ municipal council ” (Voorschoten Sports Council) designated Adegeest Sports Park as the preferred location for the new sports center. The new sports hall will replace De Vliethorst Sports Hall in the “ centre.” The new swimming pool will replace Het Wedde Swimming Pool, which is in need of replacement.

Current Status

On September 24, 2026, the City Council ( municipal council ) approved the further development of the new sports center at Adegeest Sports Park. This marks an important step toward creating a future-proof facility where residents can swim, play sports, and socialize.

The new sports center will eventually replace the Het Wedde swimming pool and the De Vliethorst sports hall. It will feature a sports hall, a swimming pool with two lanes, and recreational facilities.

In the coming period, the municipality will further develop the design and prepare the request for proposals. Afterward, the “ municipal council ” will make a follow-up decision regarding the construction of the sports center.

Residents Stay Involved

Residents, sports clubs, schools, and other users contributed their input during the planning process. Their insights, wishes, and ideas were incorporated into the further development of the plans.

We will continue to engage with them in the next phase as well. On this page, we’ll share new information about the project and let residents know when they can provide input on the further development of the sports center.

Survey and Open House

In the spring of 2026, residents had the opportunity to share their ideas about the new sports center through a survey and an open house. The feedback gathered during these engagement events provided valuable insights for the further development of the plans. The results and reports are provided below.

Frequently asked questions

Why is a new sports center needed?

The current De Vliethorst sports hall and Het Wedde swimming pool are outdated. The new sports center is essential to ensure that people can continue to swim and play sports in Voorschoten in the future.

Where will the new sports center be built?

The new sports center is being built at Adegeest Sports Park, right next to the current Het Wedde swimming pool.

Will the pool stay open?

Yes, the Het Wedde swimming pool will remain open during the construction of the new sports center. The Het Wedde swimming pool will be demolished only after the new sports center has been completed.

Will the golf course remain open?

Yes, the golf course will remain open. During the construction of the new sports center (2029–2030), one practice hole will be temporarily unavailable. After the new sports center is completed, the Wedde swimming pool will be demolished. This will also free up space for a partial redesign of the golf course. A new practice hole will be built, and several adjustments will be made to the golf course to ensure it continues to meet the requirements of the national association. The golf course is and will remain accessible only to members of the Voorschotense Golf Club or to those paying a green fee.
