Exhibition: 100 Years of Moederhuis

On October 15, 1926, the new “ town hall ” at Leidseweg 25 was officially opened and began operations. On Saturday, September 12, 2026, we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the “Moederhuis” with a special one-day exhibition titled “100 Years of Moederhuis.”

Wedding Photo

On June 25, 1946, the sisters Zwaantje, Alida, and Roelina Pen were married

During the exhibition, you’ll take a trip back in time. In addition to historical images of the building’s design and architecture, you’ll learn more about the wood carvings in the council chamber that were never completed. You’ll also see historical wedding photos of couples who have exchanged vows in the council chamber over the years. The exhibition takes place during Open Monument Day and the Voorschoten Weekend. The exhibition is open to the public starting at 11:00 a.m. The doors close at 4:00 p.m.

Coloring Contest

Starting Monday, August 31, a coloring page will be available at the reception desk of the “ town hall ” for children ages 12 and under. Turn in your coloring page during the exhibition on Saturday, September 12, and you’ll have a chance to win a great prize! The winners will be notified personally. They will be invited by Mayor Stemerdink to receive their prize at a later date.
