100 Years of Moederhuis
A century of history in the town hall
This year marks the 100th anniversary of our congregation’s “Moederhuis.” On Saturday, September 12, 2026, we will celebrate this special anniversary with a one-day exhibition titled “100 Years of Moederhuis.”
On October 15, 1926, the new “ town hall ” at Leidseweg 25 was officially opened and put into use. A century later, this exhibition offers you the chance to step back in time and discover the history of this remarkable building.
Discover the history of the Moederhuis
The exhibition highlights various aspects of the “ town hall ” and its history. For example, you can view historical images of the building’s design and architecture. You’ll also learn more about the unique wood carvings—which were never actually installed—that were originally intended for the council chamber.
In addition, there is a collection of historic wedding photos on display. In these photos, you can see couples who have exchanged vows in the council chamber over the years.
A wonderful opportunity to see the Moederhuis from a different perspective and reflect on 100 years of history, special stories, and memories.
Coloring Contest for Kids
Children can also join in the celebration of the Moederhuis’s 100th anniversary. Starting Monday, August 31, a special coloring page will be available at the reception desk of the town hall for children ages 12 and under.
Color the picture as beautifully as possible and turn it in during the exhibition on Saturday, September 12. You could win a great prize!
The winners will be notified personally and invited by Mayor Stemerdink to accept their prize at a later date.
