Adegeest Neighborhood Redevelopment Begins: Groundbreaking on June 28

The Municipality of Voorschoten is celebrating an important milestone in the redevelopment of the Adegeest neighborhood. On Friday, June 28, 2024, Alderman Schokker will perform the official groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of the renovation work in the neighborhood.

On February 1, 2024, the city council approved the Final Design and the corresponding budget for the comprehensive redevelopment of the Adegeest neighborhood. Nearly five months later, the first shovel will hit the ground, marking the start of the long-awaited improvement of the public space.

Work will begin with the construction of a new pumping station at the corner of Mozartlaan and Richard Wagnerlaan. In July, AW Infrabouw will begin setting up the depot and the site facilities. Work on replacing the sewer system will then begin. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2025. Other contractors will also begin work, such as building playgrounds and carrying out work on trees and landscaping. Residents of Adegeest will be kept continuously informed of progress via the municipal website, the BouwApp, newsletters, and weekly drop-in hours for questions.

Friday, June 28, will be an important day for the Adegeest neighborhood. The occasion will be celebrated with snacks and drinks. Residents are cordially invited to attend the festive kickoff event at 2:15 p.m. The event will take place at the corner of Richard Wagnerlaan and Mozartlaan.
