Working Together to Address the Energy and Climate Challenges in Voorschoten

Voorschoten faces major challenges when it comes to energy and climate. And these challenges affect everyone: residents, businesses, other organizations, and the municipality. But they also affect the natural environment: plants, animals—in short, the ecosystem itself. In the Energy and Climate Vision adopted by the city council on March 4, the municipality outlines the role it can play in this area, taking into account the limited resources available.

The Energy and Climate Vision marks the starting point for the challenges we face together as a municipality. It provides direction for the sustainability goals we are working toward collectively. Everyone wants a high-quality environment, a climate-resilient living environment, and an energy supply that is not based on finite fossil fuels. The question is how we are going to achieve this together.

Councilwoman Erika Spil (Sustainability): “In our vision for energy and climate, we outline what we want to focus on in the coming years to make Voorschoten more sustainable. This will require a collective effort from residents, businesses, and the municipality. Fortunately, many people living in Voorschoten have already shown their commitment to sustainability!”

On the topic of climate adaptation, we’ll be discussing what we can do to mitigate the effects of climate change (such as droughts and more frequent heavy downpours) and how to cope with them.
